Some interesting news for archaeology on the Yorkshire Wolds! Historic England has awarded a £136,356 grant to York Archaeology and the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust (YWT) for an exciting new landscape and heritage project.

The project will map and explore a 68-square-mile area of the Wolds, bringing to light everything from prehistoric settlements to World War Two remains, while also celebrating the area's rich chalk stream wildlife.

Hopefully it will involve our friends at the Fridaythorpe, Fimber, Wetwang Archaeological Project (FFWAP) who have carried out so much survey work on the Wolds! New findings will be made publicly accessible via a digital portal so local communities can explore the heritage right on their doorstep.
